Gary Williams

Role: Evaluation Team Member

Gary Williams MZNM has been an Evaluation Team Member since 2014 and is a former Chairperson of the SAMS Board of Trustees.

He is a disabled person, Ngati Porou and lives in Christchurch where he and his wife provide consultancy services for both the disability and Maori sectors.

Gary has been influential in many of the positive changes in the NZ disability sector over the last 20 years including the NZ Disability Strategy, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the rationale for creating the Ministry of Disabled People, and Enabling Good Lives.   He is also a co-author of He Puapua.

Before committing to work and advocacy in the disability sector, Gary worked as a specialist software developer for GNS Sciences.
